FSU began offering the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree in 1971 through the Division of Business and Economics, the precursor to the SBE. This was subsequently expanded to include the current majors, and in 1987 the MBA degree was added. Historical highlights over the past several years include:
2016: SBE undergraduate team business plan earned 3rd place award in UNC system-wide Social Entrepreneurship Competition
2015: Named as one of the best online MBA programs in the nation by US News and World Report and among the top 3 in North Carolina for Veterans
2015: The website Top Masters in Healthcare Administration named FSU one of the top 20 most affordable and selective colleges for Healthcare Management
2015: Introduced a new minor in Healthcare Information Technology and a new concentration in Retail/Service Management
2015: FSU graduate team's business plan earned a 1st place award in UNC's system-wide Social Entrepreneurship Competition; the SBE undergraduate team won 3rd place

2012: Awarded over $600,000 from the U.S. Economic Development Administration to establish a University Center for Economic Development
2011: Awarded over $367,000 from the U.S. Department of Agriculture to enhance the entrepreneurial capacity of small scale farmers in the region
2010: Awarded $137,000 from BRAC RTF to assess the economic impact of BRAC on disadvantaged populations in the 11 county BRAC region
2010: SBE team won the national OFC Venture Challenge Business Plan Competition
2009: Awarded first of over $800,000 in grants to establish and maintain a Veterans Business Outreach Center
2009: Awarded $50,000 from the U.S. Department of HHS, in collaboration with the Fayetteville Metropolitan Housing Authority, to assess the economic impact of the HOPE VI redevelopment initiative
2009: BB&T funded a $1,030,000 endowment in the SBE to raise awareness of free enterprise and capitalism
2009: SBE launched the annual Youth Entrepreneurship Conference, a very successful collaboration with Cumberland County Schools
2009: SBE students won the Outstanding Product Award in their division at the Moot Corp Competition at the University of Texas at Austin
