Promotion & Tenure!
Dr. Jennifer Leigh Johnson, Associate Professor and Graduate Program Director, was recently granted tenure to reflect her efforts in the tripartite role of faculty in the areas of teaching, scholarship, and service. Dr. Jennifer Johnson has over 26 years of experience as a registered nurse and 18 years as a nurse academician. Dr. Johnson's educational experiences include a Doctor of Nursing Practice from the University of Alabama Tuscaloosa, a Post-Master's Certificate in Women's Health Nurse Practitioner from UNC Chapel Hill, a Master's degree in Community Health Nursing (Direct Care Role) from East Carolina University, and a Bachelor's Degree from Barton College. Her academic experience includes teaching across the curriculum in both undergraduate and graduate education as well as various leadership/administrative roles. Her clinical practice experience prior to academia is in public health, specifically in the care of women and children. Dr. Johnson's research interests include refugee health issues across the lifespan, the study of attitudes/perceptions towards refugees as well as the scholarship of teaching and learning. She has a record of international and national presentations and publications focused on her research interests. Dr. Johnson is active in the North Carolina Nurses Association, North Carolina Public Health Association, and the National Association for Nurse Practitioners in Women's Health. Dr. Johnson is also a member of the 2017-2018 cohort of the American Association of Colleges of Nursing's Leadership for Academic Nursing Fellowship program.

Dr. Alnita Jackson recently had an article published in American Nurse titled "Biosimilars: An alternative to biologics". Dr. Jackson is a Clinical Assistant Professor at Fayetteville State University in Fayetteville, NC. She has 20 + years of extensive experience in the following practice areas: Medical-Surgical, Nephrology, Telemetry, Geriatrics, Public Health, and Family practice. Certification!
Dr. Caroline Yurchak passed the CNE exam! Dr. Yurchak is an assistant professor in the School of Nursing and enjoys educating nursing professionals in both the online and in-person settings and her areas of interest include community health, pediatrics, health promotion, and preventive healthcare.
October 2020
Publication!
Dr. Misty Stone published an article in the Journal of Nursing Administration (JONA) titled, Second Victim Support: Nurses' Perspectives of Organization Support After an Adverse Event. The article can be found in JONA's October issue (Volume 50, number 10 DOI:10.1097/NNA.0000000000000928). Dr. Stone is an Assistant Professor in the School of Nursing and is the coordinator of Fayetteville State's Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP). Dr. Stone received her Ph.D. from UNC-Greensboro with research focused on support programs for nurses in healthcare organizations.

Hackley Research Series Recipients!
The School of Nursing would like to congratulate Dr. Angela Stewart and Dr. Misty Stone on their achievement of being granted $1,000 (per person) in funding for professional development. Each submitted a proposal for the Hackley Research Series that was accepted. Dr. Stewart is an Adjunct Professor in the School of Nursing. Dr. Stone is an Assistant Professor in the School of Nursing.
