Registered Nurse (RN) to Bachelor in Science in Nursing (BSN) Program
FSU’s online degree completion programs allow you to complete your upper-division (junior and senior level) courses online. To be admitted to an ODC program, you must already have completed the University College Core Curriculum (General Education Requirements) or be dual enrolled with a partnering community college. A partnering community college is a community college in which there is a signed articulation agreement between FSU and the community college.

A BSN is required if you ever want to move out of basic clinical care. With our RN to BSN program you will learn communication skills, leadership skills, and critical thinking which are needed to obtain jobs that pay more.
Why choose a BSN?
The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) has estimated that the registered nursing profession will increase by 19% from 2012-22.
A registered nurse can earn a median wage of $39,100 while a registered nurse who has obtained their BSN can earn more than $69,000.
Studies have revealed that a nurse with a BSN is eligible for more than 80% of the nursing positions available while a RN with a diploma is only eligible for 51% of the nursing positions that are available.
A nurse with a BSN is typically given more responsibility and the opportunity to move into supervisory roles.
What Will You Learn?
Our RN to BSN program uses the coursework you have already completed as a starting point. This program contains science-based learning and nursing skills instruction. You will learn health assessment, evidence-based practices, community health, issues and trends in nursing, and emergency care.
I enjoyed the FSU, RN to BSN program because it was possible to complete it in one year online while I continued to work.

Are there any courses that require clinical hours?
Yes, NURS 430 - Community Health & NURS 480 - Senior Practicum. Both courses allow students an opportunity to experience new nursing roles and services available in the community. There are options for service learning, indirect and direct learning experiences, and project-based experiences.
How long is the program?
The full-time matriculation plan is 2.5 semesters. The part-time matriculation plan is five semesters.
Do all non-nursing courses have to be completed before the nursing program can be started?
Students can begin the RN-BSN program and complete needed non-nursing courses while taking nursing courses.
Do non-nursing courses have a time limit for transfer?
No, there is not a time limit on when the courses must be completed.
What is the deadline for application to the RN-BSN program?
The School of Nursing deadline will coincide with the university application deadline.
Do I need to be a licensed RN to enroll in the program?
Yes, you must be an RN with an active, unencumbered license to start nursing courses.
