The baccalaureate degree program in nursing and master's degree program in nursing at Fayetteville State University is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, 655 K Street NW, Suite 750, Washington, DC 20001, 202-887-6791.
Applications for the MSN program are accepted on a rolling basis (no set due dates) for Fall and Spring semesters. Applicants will be notified of the admission decision promptly after completion of the online application. Please contact the Program Director with questions related to the MSN application.
FSU School of Nursing will adhere to all admission requirements of the Graduate College
- A bachelor’s degree in nursing, or another field, from a regionally accredited institution
- Official transcripts from each college/university attended
- Official TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) scores for international applicants
- Online graduate school application, which includes a non-refundable $50 application fee
Additionally, FSU School of Nursing will require:
- GPA: An overall GPA of 3.0 in undergraduate coursework; or a graduate GPA of 3.0 in at least 12 hours of post-baccalaureate studies
- (3) Professional Letters of Recommendations
- Written professional statement of interest in program
How do I apply for the MSN Program?
The application for the MSN program is available through the Fayetteville State University Graduate School’s website.
What is the length of the MSN Program?
The MSN program consists of 36 total credit hours and can be completed in 4 semesters as a full-time student. Part-time study plans are available.
What format is the MSN being taught in?
The MSN program is taught in an on-line format. Courses are 16 weeks each.
What is the GRE or GMAT requirement?
The School of Nursing does not require the GRE or GMAT. The question may be asked on the Graduate School’s application, however the admissions office is aware that the School of Nursing does not require it.
What is the GPA Requirement?
An overall GPA of 3.0 in undergraduate coursework; or a graduate GPA of 3.0 in at least 12 hours of post-baccalaureate studies.
Would I need to be on campus during any part of the program?
Yes. Even though this is an online program, you will be required to be on campus 1-3 times during your last semester of the program while completing capstone project practicum hours. Those dates are determined by the instructors of the course students are taking.
Do I need years of clinical experience before I can apply to the program?
No. You may start the MSN graduate level courses right after you earn your BSN degree.
Do I need to be licensed before applying for the MSN Program?
Yes. All applicants must be a licensed Registered Nurse.
