Choosing a major in the Department of Intelligence Studies, Geospatial Science, Political Science and History (IGPH) will prepare you with a strong liberal arts and critical thinking background for your career after graduation. Our graduates have careers in the public and private sector from academia, public schools, legal, military, non-profit, museums and more.
Graduates from our department are prepared to continue their education in graduate and professional schools.
IGPH offers three online degree completion programs: History, Intelligence Studies, and Political Science. The online degree completion program allow students to complete their upper-division (junior and senior level) courses online. To be admitted to the ODC program, students must already have completed the University College Core Curriculum or be dual enrolled with a partnering community college. News and Notes
- Kudos to Dr. Francena Turner, who participated this summer in the National Endowment for the Humanities Summer Institute for Higher Education Faculty entitled "Concepts of Black Diaspora in the United States: Identity and Connections among African, Afro-Caribbean, and African American Communities." The Summer Institute is designed to encourage discussion, intellectual stimulation, and community building.
- Dr. Robert Taber participated in Communities in Action: Building a Better North Carolina at the White House on Thursday, September 22. He joined North Carolina elected and community leaders and White House officials to discuss the impact of Biden-Harris policies and legislation on our state.
- It is not too early to think about summer school. Learn more and join us this summer.

A Message from the Chair
We are a multi-disciplinary department offering challenging classes designed to prepare you with a strong liberal arts education leading to a successful career in the 21st century.
In the Department of Intelligence Studies, Geospatial Science, Political Science and History you have several programs in which to major or minor: Geography, History, Intelligence Studies, and Political Science, Sustainability, and Philosophy minors.
