Sociology (Minor)
The minor in sociology is designed to provide you with a course of study that will strengthen your skills in the social sciences.
You are encouraged to pursue your secondary academic interest in sociology to broaden your skill set with regard to, analytical skills, interpersonal / cross-cultural skills, and communication skills. Those who minor in sociology are required to take 18 hours of sociology courses: Principles of Sociology (SOCI 210), History of Sociological Thought (SOCI 350), and four additional courses.
Why Add a Minor in Sociology?
Students with many different majors find sociology a useful and compatible minor. Coursework for this minor examines the underlying patterns of social relations in formal organizations, in legal institutions, and in the family,
economic, and political arena.

A minor in sociology is an excellent complement for those intending careers in health-related fields, the non-profit sector, government, higher education, human resource management, city and regional planning, or public policy.
