Geospatial Student Achievements
Congrats to Stephen Towery, Biology and Geography senior for accepting the internship in The Nature Conservancy (TNC). His responsibilities include assisting in environmental assessments by gathering GPS coordinates and developing maps illustrating terrain features for potential land and easement purchases. Founded at its grassroots in the U.S. in 1951, TNC has grown to become one of the most effective and wide-reaching environmental organizations in the world. In 2017, the organization received $165 million donation from Jack & Laura Dangermond, founder of Environmental Systems Research Institute (ESRI). | |
Congrats to Alfie Frederick, Geography senior and GEOINT minor for being awarded the Best Oral Presentation at the FSU Annual Research Symposium (Fayetteville, NC, April 5 2019) and the G. Herbert Stout Awards for his geospatial research done with Dr. Tran, at the North Carolina GIS Conference 2019 in Winston Salem (NC), February 27- March 1, 2019. |

Congrats to Corey Bissen, Geography senior and GEOINT minor for accepting the internship in the GIS Division of the City of Fayetteville. Governing and Living Cities recently named Fayetteville the most innovative city in the nation. The City earned top overall performer in their Equipt to Innovate national city assessment for high performance. |

Congrats to TyRik Thompson, Geography/Intelligence Studies senior and GEOINT minor for accepting the internship with the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) support team for the 82nd Airborne Division at Fort Bragg, after being intern at NGA last summer 2018. |
