Reverse Transfer Agreement

The Reverse Transfer Program is a collaborative effort between North Carolina Community Colleges and the UNC System.

A student who transfers from a North Carolina community college before earning the Associate in Arts (AA) or Associate in Science (AS) degree and who subsequently applies for one of these degrees through the North Carolina Reverse Transfer Program may request, through his or her department chair or advisor, that his or her records be reviewed as fulfilling the University's general education requirements under the current Comprehensive Articulation Agreement (CAA) while still enrolled as a degree-seeking student. If the student has already met the University general education requirements through earned credit or enrollment of the course(s), there will not be any adjustments to the student's record.

Am I eligible for the Reverse Transfer Program?
You must have completed/earned at least 16 college-level credit hours at one community college that will apply toward your degree to be eligible to participate.

For example:
John attends community college A and earns 12 hours then attends community college B and earns 4 credit hours. Does this qualify? No.

Maria attends community college A and earns 16 credit hours. Does this qualify? Yes

How do I participate?
Eligible students will be asked to participate when they transfer to one of the participating universities through their student services account. Once you log into your student self-service account, click on the Student tab and then click Reverse Transfer Program and follow the prompts.

How will I know if I have been awarded the associate degree?
The community college will send notification to your Bronco email if the associate degree is awarded, including details on how to get a printed diploma and participate in graduation ceremonies.
