BIOGRAPHY

Dr. Daniel Okunbor is a Professor of Computer Science. He served as Director of Research and Assistant Dean in the College of Arts and Science between 2006 and 2015. In 2015-2016 academic year, he on sabbatical leave at the University of Abuja, Nigeria as a Visiting Fulbright Scholar in the Department of Computer Science. Dr. Okunbor is a product of the University of Benin, where he graduated with B.Sc. (First Class Honors) and M.Sc. in Industrial Mathematics and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where he obtained Ph.D. in Computer Science. Dr. Okunbor has had a combined 25 years working experience in academia, first as an Assistant Lecturer at the University of Benin (1985-1987), next, as an Assistant Professor of Computer Science at the Missouri University of Science and Technology (formerly University of Missouri-Rolla, 1993-1998).  Dr. Okunbor was an Associate Professor of Computer Science and Chair of the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at the University of Maryland at Eastern Shore (1998-2004). He joined the faculty at Fayetteville State University as a Professor in the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science in 2004. Dr. Okunbor's research interests are in numerical and parallel computing, dynamic goal programming and fuzzy logic, campus mobile computing, machine learning, cyber security, and analysis of social networking sites. He has over 60 research publications in professional journals and conference proceedings and have supervised two (2) PhD theses and over 15 Masters Dissertations. He has served as Director and Principal Investigator in numerous externally funded projects, garnering approximately ten (10) million dollars in grants. Dr. Okunbor recently completed Advanced Computer Security Certificate from Stanford University and an EC-Council Certification Training to become a Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH).

Cybersecurity, Social Media Applications, Cluster Computing, Dynamical Systems, Mathematical Optimization and E-Commerce Applications.
