Department of Mathematics and Computer Science

The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science offers three programs leading to the degree of Bachelor of Science. These degree programs are designed so that all students take the basic University College Core courses, major courses in Mathematics and Computer Science, and flexible elective choices. The department also offers minors in Mathematics and Computer Science, a minor/ certificate in Cyber Security, and courses in statistics. These programs of study prepare graduates for careers in teaching, business, industry, and government, or for further study.

Department Mission Statement

Consistent with the mission of FSU and the College of Health, Science, and Technology, the primary mission of the Dr. Henry M. Eldridge Department of Mathematics and Computer Science is to prepare students, especially those from historically underrepresented groups, to enter careers in mathematics, computer science, technology, engineering, and education, and to continue their education beyond the undergraduate level. The department is committed to excellence in teaching, research and scholarship, to supporting other units through the core curriculum, to working with colleagues from other disciplines and institutions, to serving as a resource in mathematics, computer science and statistics for the local community, and to enhancing the quality of life in Southeastern North Carolina, the nation, and the world.
