Dr. Quienton Nichols

Associate Dean/Associate Professor

Dr. Quienton L. Nichols is the Associate Dean and Associate Professor of Social Work in the School of Social Work at Fayetteville State University. He also served as MSW Program Director prior to his appointment as Associate Dean. He received both his Bachelor's and Master's of Social Work degrees from the University of Georgia, School of Social Work in Athens, Georgia, and a Ph.D. in Social Work Administration, Planning and Social Science with a cognate in Counseling and Psychological Services from the Clark Atlanta University Whitney M. Young School of Social Work in Atlanta, Georgia.

Dr. Nichols began his academic administration and leadership journey in 2006 - 2013 during his academic appointments at Kennesaw State University in Kennesaw Georgia as Director of the Child Welfare Scholars Program, Clinical Faculty Practitioner and Director of Field Education.

For more than two decades, Dr. Nichols has worked in the field of social service delivery with experience working as a counselor at Central State Hospital, Medical Social Worker at Athens Regional Hospital, Claims Representative at the Social Security Administration, and Child Protection Investigator at the Department of Family and Children Services in metro Atlanta.

Dr. Nichols has worked as a therapist for the Department of Juvenile Justice, Social Work PRN and private faith base practices as a Clinical Therapist with local counseling agencies in metro Atlanta. His research interests include child welfare, HIV/AIDS education and Spirituality. He has authored a number of publications included two books that teach the infusion social work education and policy into practice; "Connecting Core Competencies: A workbook for Social Work Students (2010) and "Advancing Core competencies: Emphasizing Practice Behaviors and Outcomes (2012). He teaches in both the MSW and undergraduate degree programs. His classes include Child Welfare Policy, Social Welfare Policy, and Crisis Intervention.
