Dr. April Goins-Jones
Adjunt Assistant Professor - Early Childhood
April Goins-Jones is an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Department of Early Childhoos, Elementary, Middle Grades, Reading and Specialized Subjects. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Birth through Kindergarten from the University of North Carolina at Pembroke; a Master's degree in Early Childhood Education from Concordia University; and a Doctorate in Education with an emphasis on Teacher leadership from Walden University.
She has worked in the field of Early Childhood Education in public and private sectors in typical and atypical developing classrooms for over 20 years. She mentored and evaluated preschool teachers in Eastern NC and worked as an Adjunct Professor at Grand Canyon University. Her current research focus is facilitation of learning and developmentally appropriate practices in special education early childhood programs. She is an active member of NAEYC.
