FSU Volleyball Celebrates Seniors and Southern Division Crown with 3-1 win over J.C. Smith
Fayetteville, NC - Fayetteville State can outright claim the 2019 CIAA Southern Division title after defeating Johnson C. Smith 3-1 (25-10, 16-25, 25-16, and 25-21) in Capel Arena on Senior Night.
The Broncos paid homage to three seniors, Chynna Hunt (Summerville, SC), Nakia McKinnie (Niceville, Fl), and Brandy Cropper (Concord, NC) prior to the match and enjoyed a soulful rendition of national anthem by Ahunna Akpuda (Raleigh, NC).
Diamond Holmes (Raeford, NC) and Casandra Watson (Grifton, NC) led the match with 13 kills each. Watson had a total of 32 attacks and Holmes finished with 23. McKinnie setup 24 set-assists. Da'Nesha Miller (Hilton Head Island, SC) followed with 13. Three Broncos had double-digit digs. Jasmine Jacinto (San Antonio, TX) finished with 18 digs while Miller had 12 and Nia Richardson (Franklinton, NC) with ten.
Taylor Smith and Gabrielle Wells led the Golden Bulls with eight kills each while Elyse Bonnett finished with 15 assists and Joi Haywood with 20 digs.
