Fayetteville State University Awarded U.S. General Services Administration Contract for Training and Technical Assistance
Fayetteville State University (FSU) announced today that the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) has awarded the University a five-year Multiple Award Schedule (MAS) contract to offer training (through GSA Schedule 874.4) and technical assistance services (through GSA Schedule 874.1).
As an approved vendor through these contract vehicles, federal agencies will be able to procure specialized services from the FSU Office of Customized Training and Technical Assistance using expedited purchasing processes with pre-approved pricing schedules. Approval for participation in these contract schedules was announced after a rigorous assessment process, based on the University's record of successful prior performance in providing related training and assistance services.
In the last fiscal year (FY2018), the Federal Government purchased approximately $3 billion in training and assistance services through these specific GSA Schedule contract vehicles; of this, approximately $52 million (2%) went to North Carolina contractors. Fayetteville State University is particularly focused on offering military installations and federal agencies in the state of North Carolina an enhanced set of proven, highly responsive training and technical assistance capabilities. In addition to leveraging the expertise of faculty and staff, FSU's Office of Customized Training and Technical Assistance will be drawing upon the assistance and collaboration of subcontractors-with the objective of increasing the share of federal contracts awarded to North Carolina institutions and corporations.
Areas of expertise to be offered by Fayetteville State University through these contracts include organizational leadership, project management, data analysis, artificial intelligence, machine learning, cybersecurity, emergency planning, geospatial information systems, advanced materials analysis, and training in nursing, counseling, social work, languages, and communication. Assistance provided by FSU to federal agencies will leverage demonstrated excellence across a broad range of academic programs. Degree programs in the fields of business, criminal justice, nursing, and social work are ranked by multiple sources as among the best in the nation. Unique University assets include the only SAP Next Generation Information Technology Lab in the Southeast (hosted by FSU's Broadwell College of Business and Economics) and advanced science labs with one of the most powerful scanning electron microscopes in the nation. In addition, FSU is one of only 16 universities in the nation offering a Geospatial Intelligence Certificate accredited by the highly respected US Geospatial Intelligence Foundation, and the University's Center for Defense and Homeland Security currently provides training for a broad array of cybersecurity-related information technology credentials.
Led by Chancellor James A. Anderson, Fayetteville State University is a constituent institution of The University of North Carolina. With more than 6,300 students, the University is among the most diverse institutions in the nation.
