FSU Faculty, Administrators Tapped for UNC Executive Leadership Institute

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C., (June 14, 2022) – The UNC System has selected three Fayetteville State University faculty and administrators for its Executive Leadership Institute. Samantha McKenzie Holmes, chief of staff; Tanya Hudson, Ed.D., chair and associate professor in the College of Education; and Hector Molina, DBA, vice chancellor for Information Technology Services will participate in the third cohort of the prestigious program.

“The selection of our three leaders for the Executive Leadership Institute (ELI) signifies that our UNC System views them as among the very elite across our 17 institutions. Thus, as Samantha, Hector and Tanya further develop and grow individually, so does FSU. I’m thrilled for our distinguished ELI participants and the invaluable skills they will gain,” said FSU Chancellor Darrell T. Allison. “We are proud to support them because we are placing a greater institutional priority on professional development here at FSU. Leadership matters and so we will continue to invest in our leaders."

Designed to build the next generation of top leadership from within the UNC System, the 10-month program will focus on providing an overview of the UNC System, its operations and leadership opportunities.

“We have so much talent among our faculty and staff across the system,” said UNC System President Peter Hans. “It makes sense that we put our time and resources into preparing new leaders for our universities. The Executive Leadership Institute is an investment in our collective future.”

FSU’s participants will join 23 other stellar executive leaders-in-training from across the UNC System engaged in learning modules designed to deepen expertise essential for success at the executive level. Three interactive and experiential immersion modules will be delivered via a hybrid of virtual and face-to-face instruction at North Carolina A&T State University, UNC-Chapel Hill and UNC-Charlotte over the course of the program. The team and individual executive coaching components will be provided in partnership with UNC-Wilmington.

The Executive Leadership Institute works to share and leverage best practices by building collaboration among participants and their institutions. It includes a focus on enhancing the pool of well-prepared, highly qualified future leaders from Historically Minority-Serving Institutions.

Upon completion of the program, participants will receive a certificate and the benefits of a mentoring relationship. Graduates will have the opportunity to pay it forward as mentors for future cohorts, ensuring promising talent continues to develop across the UNC System.
