Four Fayetteville State University Students Win Governor’s Institute Scholarships

Four Fayetteville State University (FSU) graduate social work students received Governor's Institute Scholarships in the amount of $3,000 each for the 2019-2020 academic year. The students were selected because of their interest in Mental Health and Substance Misuse and their willingness to work in areas of greatest need here in North Carolina.

These students are pursuing a master’s degree in social work with a specialization in Mental Health and a certificate In Substance Abuse Studies. Upon completion of both the degree and certificate, the goal is to become dually licensed as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist (LCAS). By receiving the Substance Abuse Studies Certificate along with their MSW, it reduces the number of hours required for the Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist certification.
