Five FSU Faculty Receive Grants from NC Policy Collaborative
Fayetteville, N.C. (November 30, 2022) — Five Fayetteville State University (FSU) faculty members each received $50,000 from NC Policy Collaborative to help fund their research.
The seed grants were awarded to FSU junior faculty to help foster rich global research collaborations and engagement; build interdisciplinary and innovative partnerships; create meaningful educational opportunities for graduate, professional and undergraduate students while developing impactful relationships with state and government agencies, industry partners, community and non-governmental organizations.
The award winners are:
- Dr. Jianhua Zhou, FSU Broadwell College of Business and Economics – Dancing Around Emerging Data and Analytics
- Dr. Shakir Ullah, FSU Broadwell College of Business and Economics – Investigating the Intention to Use Crypto Currencies in Business Transactions
- Dr. Melissa-Hathcock-Dennis, FSU College of Education – Health Equity Undergraduate Research Study
- Willetta Gibson, FSU Lloyd College of Health, Science and Technology – Role of Phytochemicals on Hedgehog Signaling in Inflammatory Breast Cancer
- Jiazheng (John) Yuan, FSU Lloyd College of Health, Science and Technology – Genome Wide Association Study for Kudzu Bugs Resistance in Edamame (Glycine max L. Merr.) and Edamame Variety Selection for Urban Food Market in North Carolina
“We have brilliant faculty who are doing cutting edge research at FSU,” said FSU Provost and Senior Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs Monica T. Leach. “We are grateful for these grants funds that will help our faculty continue to innovate and evidenced based work, while also providing new and experiential opportunities for our students.
The Collaboratory, headquartered at UNC-Chapel Hill, was established by the North Carolina General Assembly (NCGA) in 2016 to facilitate the transformation of academic expertise into practical information for use by state and local governments.
