Fayetteville State University Promotes Moyd to Associate Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs

Fayetteville, N.C. (August 17, 2022) Gregory E. Moyd ’89, M.P.A., will serve as the associate vice chancellor for student affairs at Fayetteville State University (FSU), effective August 1, 2022. An FSU alumnus, he served as assistant vice chancellor for student affairs for nearly three decades.

As the associate vice chancellor for student affairs, Moyd will serve as second in command in the division and provide leadership in the design, implementation, evaluation, administration and management of policies, programs and initiatives related to student affairs and the student experience.

Moyd will also lead all student affairs emergency preparedness management initiatives aimed at improving planning efforts related to student well-being, policy and administrative concerns. As the chair of the Campus Safety Committee, his strong campus and community relationships will enable him to work closely with Campus Police to address and resolve student-related matters.

Mr. Moyd is an experienced leader with extensive knowledge in developing and implementing strategic programs and initiatives for students, especially historically underserved, first-generation, non-traditional, military-affiliated and commuters. He is a skilled innovator and highly knowledgeable in anticipating and managing issues and crises that influence and impact the student experience.”

Moyd has a proven track record in leading and managing multiple units and initiatives in student affairs at FSU, including residence life, student activities, the student center, campus safety, emergency management and facilities operations. Since joining the Division of Student Affairs in 1994, he rose through the ranks, serving as assistant director of student activities and the student center, director of student activities and the student center, and assistant vice chancellor for student affairs. With a distinguished 20-year military career as a U.S. Air Force officer on active duty and in the reserves, Moyd demonstrated exceptional abilities in development, oversight, management, and coordination of logistic support operations.

Moyd earned a bachelor’s degree in political science from Fayetteville State University in 1989 and a master’s in public administration with a concentration in emergency management from the University of North Carolina at Pembroke in 2018.
