The Division of Institutional Advancement at Fayetteville State University (FSU) will celebrate those who established scholarships with a Donor Appreciation Luncheon. The event will be Thursday, October 3, 2019, from noon to 2 p.m., at the Cape Fear Botanical Garden. The luncheon will provide an opportunity for these generous donors to meet the recipients of their scholarships. The students who received the funding will be present. Transportation is being provided for those student recipients.
"This luncheon will be our way of thanking those donors who invested in Fayetteville State University and our students to establish a scholarship" said Lorna Ricotta, Vice Chancellor for Institutional Advancement at FSU. "On behalf of Acting Chancellor Peggy Valentine and FSU, we want to express how much we appreciate their support, as well as put them in contact with the students benefitting from their generosity. We are pleased and honored to thank them for what they have done and will continue to do for FSU."
This celebration will be the first in a host of future events to honor donors. In spring 2020, a celebration will be held to acknowledge donors who have contributed $1,000 or more to FSU. The exact time and location will be determined at a later date. A similar celebration recognizing these donors was held in April and was attended by more than 100 donors and guests. Scholarship recipients from the Global Scholars program, athletics and nursing were featured during the program. They expressed their appreciation to donors and shared how the scholarships were enabling them to obtain a college education.
