Fayetteville State University Launches Initiative to Fund High-Impact Community Service Projects
Fayetteville State University’s Division of Student Affairs launched FSU IMPACT: A Call to Action and Commitment, an initiative to facilitate actionable and sustainable community engagement and impact through academic department clubs and student organizations. Student Affairs now calls on qualifying student organizations to submit proposals for funding for high-impact community service initiatives in five student-determined program target areas.
FSU IMPACT demonstrates the university's commitment to service by encouraging and rewarding grant funding to student organizations involved in high impact experiences that foster student leadership development, establish new networks of collaborations between student organizations, community agencies, and academic departments, and promotes forward-thinking solutions to emerging issues facing society.
FSU IMPACT will strengthen student marketability by preparing students to clearly articulate their role in addressing critical social issues and enhancing soft skills desired by employers while instilling a life-long commitment to using one's unique talents, skills, and area of study to render service in and beyond their community. It provides a framework for purposeful, focused student engagement and enables students to collectively impact and influence social issues.
FSU IMPACT will focus on Educational Quality, Diversity & Inclusion, Mentoring, Self-Awareness, and Poverty for the first two years of the initiative. Program target areas were determined by FSU student leaders during a faculty-led think tank event with representation from various academic department, leadership, and special interest student organizations.
The Request for Proposals for the 2018-2019 academic year can be accessed through Bronco Advantage. Eligible student organizations may be awarded up to $2,000. Approximately 10 to 20 organizations will be awarded during the first grant cycle. Deadline for submissions is Friday, April 20, 2018.
