Fayetteville State University’s Seabrook Performance Series Invites Local Choirs to Enter 2018 Community Choir Competition
Fayetteville State University’s (FSU) Seabrook Performance Series is inviting all Fayetteville area choirs to enter the 2018 Community Choir Competition, in which the winner will perform in the Gospel Explosion concert on March 14, 6 p.m., at J.W. Seabrook Auditorium.
"The search is on for the best gospel choir in the Fayetteville area," said Michelle Saunders, FSU Department of Performing and Fine Arts outreach and engagement coordinator. "And winner of our competition will be recognized as the top choir in Fayetteville for one year and get to perform in the Gospel Explosion concert as a guest choir. This will give the choir the opportunity to display their talent in a broad public setting outside of their own organization."
Any local choir can enter including high schools, colleges, churches, or any independent choirs. To be eligible for the competition, choirs must have 20 or more members and are prohibited from bringing or including professional or nationally known artists. Each choir has a performance time limit of three minutes. Competition closes at 5 p.m. on March 12.
To enter upload a video to the J.W. Seabrook Facebook page inbox. Judging will be based upon the choir with the highest number of Facebook likes, votes and shares. The winner will be announced on Facebook March 13.
Entry fees are $25 and can be paid by phone or visiting the J.W. Seabrook Auditorium ticket office (8 a.m. to 5 p.m.). A confirmation code will be provided for entry.
