Celebrate Black History Month with FSU
Throughout February
Rosenthal Gallery is exhibiting a National Black Art Exhibition: New Media Abstraction and Identity Politics in Contemporary Black Art. The gallery will be open on Saturdays from 11 am to 4 pm during the month of February. Twenty-nine national artists are exhibiting 31 works of art.
February 4th and 19th
The Writers Club will be having open mics on February 4th and 19th in the Rudolph Jones Student Center from noon to 2 P.M.
February 7th
International artist Ben Jones will speak to students on Friday, February 7th from 1 - 2:30 P.M., in the Rosenthal Art Gallery. The artist will discuss his work in the gallery and his career as an artist.
February 18th
The Doctoral Student Association will celebrate Black History Month by highlighting two notable writings of the man considered the father of Black History Month, Dr. Carter G. Woodson. The Education of the Negro Prior to 1861, published in 1915 and The Miseducation of the Negro, published in 1933 will be debated in an open forum by doctoral students from the Department of Educational Leadership and School Administration. This event will be held at 6 P.M., February 18, 2020 in Room 238 of the Rudolph Jones Student Center.

February 25th
The African American History Month Committee of the Intelligence Studies, Geospatial Science, Political Science, and History will conduct a program entitled "Imperative Factors Related to Voting in 2020". This presentation will be a well-researched account by the speaker Dr. Ngozi Kamau that addresses issues and concerns that deal with African American voters. Committee members will also provide brief comments and members of the audience will be invited to raise questions and to make comments. This event is to take place in The Taylor Social Science Building Room 203 on February 25, 2020, from 2-3:30 pm. Students, faculty, and others are invited.
