Jacquelyn Melvin-Alexander

Jacquelyn Melvin-Alexander

About Jacquelyn Melvin-Alexander

Jacquelyn Melvin-Alexander is a native of Fayetteville, NC. and a proud 1976 graduate of Fayetteville State University earning a BA Degree in History and Political Science. While at FSU, she was a member of the cheerleading squad, involved in student affairs, pledged her sorority, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated in 1973 with the Delta Xi Chapter and was also voted Ms. Omega Psi Phi of the undergraduate chapter of Delta Gamma in 1975.

After graduation, she moved to Boston, Massachusetts to work for the Bank of Boston, ultimately rising to the rank of Assistant Vice President. While at the Bank of Boston, most of her colleagues had no idea of what a HBCU was. She was surrounded by graduates from the likes of Harvard, Yale, Dartmouth, Princeton, and Brown Universities. However, because of the education and confidence afforded to her at Fayetteville State University, she stood shoulder to shoulder with them all and left them with an understanding of the product that a HBCU can produce.

Now given the opportunity to give back to Fayetteville State University in a big way, she has decided to participate in the Ms. FSU Alumni Fundraising Campaign to assist those desiring to attend FSU to see their hopes and dreams come into reality as she was able to do. She lives by the motto “If you do the work, you can step into your blessings that the good Lord will provide.”

Dawn McGee

Dawn McGee

About Dawn McGee

I am Dawn McGee, class of 1996 and 2000. I am asking for your support as I contend for the honor of serving as Ms. Fayetteville State University Alumni 2023-2024. After three amazing years in high school in Atlanta, GA my path as a first-generation college student was set. To date returning home to Fayetteville, NC was the wisest academic decision I have made. The memories made during my years at FSU as an undergraduate are priceless. From serving as a Resident Assistant in “New Res” to being a member of the then newly formed Student Activities Council, to being an active member in the Bio Phi Chem Science Club, becoming a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. in 1995 and serving as Chapter President, each experience cultivated a sense of family and belonging. I’ve earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in biology from Fayetteville State University needless to say it is my happy place.

Currently, I serve as a lecturer and Forensic Science laboratory manager in the Department of Biological and Forensic Sciences. I am a Life Member of the Fayetteville State University National Alumni Association and also a charter member of the Military Alumni Chapter. I am an active member of the Fort Bragg Area Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and serve as the Secondary Advisor of the Delta Xi Chapter. I see our students every day, as they navigate our growing campus and the responsibilities of life. Each of them with a story of how Fayetteville State University was their choice because we care about the wholeness of our students. We meet them where they are and nurture, encourage, and empower them to become graduates and productive global citizens.

Thank you for your support. Bronco Pride World Wide!
