Alvin Powell
Alvin Powell – 1974- Chief-Federal Bureau of Investigation Counterterrorism Unit (retired): Pilot; Founder and President of The Inner Banks STEM Center

Alvin (Al) is a 1974 graduate of Fayetteville State University (FSU) and a native of Washington, DC. He is an inductee into the FSU Athletic Hall of Fame for track. He graduated from FSU with a BS in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting. After graduation, Al was appointed as an Assistant National Bank Examiner with the US Treasury Department-Comptroller of the Currency. Dr. Sylvia E. Johnson
Dr. Sylvia E. Johnson – 1985- Nominated by President Biden to serve on the U.S. Chemical Safety and Hazard Investigation Board (CSB). The U.S. Chemical Safety and Hazard Investigation Board is an independent, nonregulatory federal agency that investigates the root causes of major chemical incidents. The agency was created under the Clean Air Act Amendments of 1990. Dr. Johnson was confirmed by the U.S. Senate in December 2021 and sworn in on February 3, 2002.

Ed Mitchell
Ed “The Pitmaster” Mitchell – 1971- In 2022, Ed Mitchell was selected for induction into the American Royal Barbecue Hall of Fame. Mitchell, known as “The Pitmaster,” among many barbecue enthusiasts, began cooking whole-hog barbecue when he was a teenager. The founding of his restaurant, Mitchell’s Ribs, Chicken & B-B-Q led to an invitation to cook at the prestigious James Beard House in New York City and association with influential writers, historians, and TV programs where he has been featured.

Nicholas Perkins
Nicholas Perkins, 2003- In August 2021, Mr. Nicholas Perkins closed a historic deal, acquiring Fuddruckers from Houston-based Luby's, Inc., in a transaction valued at $18.5 million. An innovative entrepreneur, Perkins' latest acquisition encompassed ownership of the Fuddruckers brand worldwide, including eateries in Canada, Mexico, Panama, and the United States. He previously acquired 14 U.S. Fuddruckers franchises, making him one of the chain's major franchisees.
Born and raised in Fayetteville, North Carolina, Perkins owns and operates several food-industry companies and is a board member of the National Urban League. An alumnus of Fayetteville State University, who later earned an MBA from Howard University, Perkins has donated millions of dollars toward historically black college and university (HBCU) scholarships over the past 11 years.
Reared in a single-parent home, Mr. Nicholas Perkins is committed to creating employment opportunities within the African American community. When he was 24, he created the Perkins Management Company, a North Carolina firm that specializes in providing contract-food services. Within a month of acquiring Fuddruckers, Perkins opened a restaurant at the HBCU Benedict College, in Columbia, South Carolina, marking the first time in Fuddruckers' 42-year history that the brand has been on a college campus.
A self-proclaimed dreamer, Perkins believes his path in life has been communicated to him through his vision, passion, and faith.

Richard J. Crosby
Richard J. Crosby, 1997- Mr. Richard J. Crosby is a Special Agent with the Diplomatic Security Service, U.S. Department of State, in Washington, DC. He joined the Diplomatic Security Service in 2001 assigned to the New York Field Office and later worked on former Secretary of State Colin Powell’s Protective Detail. Following Secretary Powell’s detail, he served on the Diplomatic Security Service Counter-Assault Team, deploying all over the world responding to national security crises to places such as: Iraq, Gaza Strip, Haiti, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Kenya, Syria, Lebanon, etc. He also served overseas as a U.S. Diplomat to Manila, Philippines; Bonn, Germany; Islamabad, Pakistan; Jerusalem, Israel; Peshawar, Pakistan; and Amman, Jordan. Mr. Crosby was also part of the security team for Team USA during the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan.
Mr. Crosby is the recipient of numerous state department awards to include the 2002 Federal Law Enforcement Officers Association National Heroism Award for Bravery (Highest Law Enforcement Award). He earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice (Summa Cum Laude-Top Graduate) from Fayetteville State University and dual Master of Art Degrees in Criminology and Sociology (Summa Cum Laude-Top Graduate) from Morehead State University. Mr. Crosby is a six-year Veteran of the United States Marine Corps. He has been featured on NBC, Telemundo, the Fayetteville Observer, and the Wilmington Star News.
