STRIDE is our in-person Orientation program to welcome all new students to Fayetteville State University. It is an opportunity for all new students to begin their journey to graduation. Orientation will help you take the right first steps at Fayetteville State University. At Orientation, you will meet current students, faculty and staff members; complete placement testing; register for courses for the upcoming semester, engage with Orientation Leaders; and learn more about campus resources.

By the time you leave Orientation, you will have a completed course schedule for your first semester, secured your housing assignment, and completed all pre-entry tasks listed under the "My To-Do List" column in Broncoville. Representatives from various campus resources will be available to assist you throughout the day(s). Orientation is designed exclusively for students who have been admitted to Fayetteville State University.

First-Time Freshmen are students who are enrolling at FSU for the first time.

• Early college students are considered First-Time Freshman

Adult Learners are any student over the age of 25.

Transfer students are incoming students with at least 15 credit hours from a qualifying community college, college or University.

Military Affiliated Students are active duty, veterans, reservists/guardsmen or military dependent students.

Can I bring my parent(s) or child to orientation?

• Children and families are allowed to participate in orientation upon being registered. However, children and families cannot stay overnight in the residence halls during the orientation sessions. Please limit to 2 guests per student.

Where should I park?

• Free parking will be available in designated parking lots throughout campus.

Do I need to bring money for food?

• Select meals will be provided for all registered students. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner on day one; breakfast on day two. The only meal provided for registered guests is lunch on Thursday. If students desire a meal outside of what’s provided, they are responsible for their own purchases.

What are the benefits of attending in-person Orientation?

• Get acclimated to campus life and campus resources through campus tours
• A chance to meet faculty and staff
• Complete Placement testing
• Meet fellow Broncos and classmates
• HAVE FUN with your peers and the BroncoFAM
• Leave with a completed class schedule

Can I attend either Orientation regardless of my student type?

• Each session is tailored for your specific student type. The session you attend will enhance your overall experience.

Is Orientation Mandatory?

• Yes

How many students can attend each overnight session?

• Up to 250 students can attend each overnight session.

Is it better to sign-up for Orientation now or later?

• Each session will have a Registration deadline of 7 days prior to each session. Each session will have a cap on the number of students and guests attending. It is best to register as soon as possible to secure your spot.

How much is Orientation?

• Orientation costs $165, which will be billed to the student’s account at the beginning of the semester. No upfront costs.

Where will I stay for Overnight Orientation?

• All students will be staying in the Renaissance Residence Hall on campus.

Do I have to stay in the Residence Hall for overnight orientation?

• Students are not required to stay overnight, but it is highly recommended. Parents cannot stay in the residence halls but can book a hotel at the Fairfield Inn & Suites or make other accommodations.

Can I attend Orientation even if I did not register?

• Students must register 7 days prior to their NSO session. Students who register on-site cannot stay overnight in the residence hall on-campus. Students and families/guests will need to make off-campus accommodations for on-site registration.

Will there be security in the residence halls?

• Yes, the residence hall will have overnight security and 24/7 front desk coverage or an on-call number will be available.

Will Orientation Leaders be staying in the Residence Halls?

• Yes, OLs will stay in the residence halls during overnight orientation.

What should I bring to orientation?

• Medication, weather appropriate clothing, toiletries, linen, comfortable shoes and clothes, umbrella and jacket, enthusiasm and excitement
• Please bring Full-Sized sheets and blanket along with a pillow for your overnight stay

If I have a disability, are accommodations provided?

• Yes, our office of Counseling and Personal Development will work to provide accommodation services for all ORIENTATION participants. Please contact them at: (910) 672-1222. Students should include information for accessibility accommodations in their registration portal.
• Service animals must be properly registered through the office of Counseling and Personal Development three weeks prior to their orientation session.

***You must register 7 days prior to your orientation session. Once an overnight session is full, you will need to choose another session date to attend. (250 student cap for overnight sessions only)

There are many steps to enrolling with the university, and our commitment is to provide you with the information you need to be successful. To access your FSU Student Account and begin your journey, follow the steps and links provided below:

1. Access your FSU Student Account

Your FSU Student Account allows you to use email, financial aid, billing, and other important FSU related tools: Account Lookup

a. At the bottom of the page, use the Banner ID (Your Banner ID can be found on your acceptance letter) and last name to access your username and set a password.

2. Complete your Broncoville Portal ‘To-do List.’

Broncoville is the web portal you used to complete your FSU application: https://broncoville.uncfsu.edu/

a. Go to your dashboard.

b. Check your "My To-Do List" and complete the following if applicable:

• Sign-Up for New Student Orientation
• Complete Housing Application (if living on campus)
• Submit official final high school transcript
• Submit medical records
• Submit Residency Determination

This will serve as your schedule and provide more detailed information for New Student Orientation.

3.Review your ‘Projected Bill Statement’ and initial ‘Financial Aid Award.’

Note: You will receive a letter containing information about your initial financial aid award and projected billing statement. You will or have received financial aid information via Bronco Student Email and U.S. mail. If you have any questions about financial aid or your billing statement, please call the FSU Call Center at (910)-672-2850.

First-Time Freshmen will register for classes during Orientation, while also attending a session on how to understand a class schedule. Transfer students will receive academic advisement for their schedule at their respective New Student Orientation date.
